Höfn has a way of filling your days. A morning on the glacier, an afternoon by the lagoon, a long drive along the south coast with the mountains changing colour in the rear view mirror. By the time you get back to town, sometimes all you want is good food and nowhere else to be.
That is why we are happy to share some news from the kitchen at Il Porto. You can now order your favourite dishes online and pick them up at Hótel Höfn, ready to take wherever you like.
A Taste of Italy. A Touch of Iceland.
Il Porto is where Italian cooking meets fresh Icelandic ingredients. Our kitchen makes pizza, pasta and risotto the way they are meant to be made, with care and simple, honest flavours, and pairs them with seafood from the waters right outside our door. The name is no accident, either. Höfn means harbour, and so does porto. The restaurant sits in a fishing town, and the menu knows it.
Until now, the only way to enjoy it was at our tables. From today, the whole Il Porto experience fits in a box.
What to Order
The takeaway menu is all about pizza, baked the Italian way with San Marzano tomatoes and plenty of mozzarella. A few favourites to get you started:
Aragosta: tomato sauce, mozzarella, local langoustine, parmesan, parsley and garlic oil. Höfn's signature catch on an Italian crust.
Bianca: mozzarella, gorgonzola, basil pesto and pear. A white pizza that is sweet, salty and a little bit surprising.
Diavola: pepperoni, chilli, dates, mascarpone and chilli honey. Hot, sweet and creamy all at once.
Vatnajökull: bacon, ham, mushrooms, minced beef and extra cheese. Named after the glacier, and just as big.
Margherita: San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, olive oil and basil. The classic, done properly.
Feeding a few people? The takeaway store also has pizza offers: two pizzas of your choice for 5.790 kr., three for 8.490 kr. or four for 10.990 kr. (Aragosta not included). Add a soft drink or a scoop of ice cream and dinner is sorted.

We have kept it as simple as possible.

Pick your time. Takeaway is available daily from 17:00 to 21:30.
Pick it up at Il Porto. Come to the restaurant at Hótel Höfn, Víkurbraut 20, and your order will be waiting.
No phone calls, no waiting around. Just order, collect and go.
Where Will You Take It?
Takeaway from Il Porto is made for how people spend their evenings in Höfn.
Back at your cabin or campsite. Pizza by the fire after a long day outdoors is hard to beat.
Down at the harbour. Watch the boats come in with a box of pizza on your lap and the mountains across the fjord.
At home with the family. For our neighbours in Höfn, it is an easy answer to the "what's for dinner" question on a busy weeknight.
On the road. Heading east or west along the Ring Road? Pick up dinner before you leave town.
Still Here When You Want to Stay
Takeaway is an addition, not a replacement. Il Porto is open every evening from 17:00 to 22:30, with the kitchen serving until 22:00 and happy hour daily from 17:00 to 19:00. If you would rather settle in, sit by the window and let us take care of everything, our tables are waiting for you.
